Das Einführungsgespräch einschließlich Vorstellung der Prüfenden und der/des Teilnehmenden dauert circa eine Minute. Teil 1 dauert circa 7 Minuten pro PTN, Teil 2 circa 5 Minuten für beide Teilnehmende zusammen.
Your partner, and how much they affect you
The exam centre decides who you are paired with — you cannot choose, and you will usually meet them minutes beforehand. You cannot agree a strategy in advance either: an invigilator has to ensure candidates do not talk to each other during the preparation time. What protects you is not that your partner is irrelevant. It is that the examiner is instructed to intervene: if a candidate falters, or takes over the conversation too much, the interlocutor is required to step in with prompts. So a dominant partner does cost you something, and the examiner is supposed to correct for it. Your own job is to take your turn deliberately rather than talk over them: ask a direct question, then answer it yourself at length.
Das Modul SPRECHEN wird in der Regel als Paarprüfung durchgeführt, in Ausnahmefällen ist auch eine Einzelprüfung möglich.
Who marks you
Two examiners, not one. Each records an assessment independently while you speak, on their own sheet. Your result is then the average of the two — for this exam the examiners are not required to arrive at one shared verdict. The exact procedure differs between exams, which is why the official wording is quoted below rather than summarised.
Das Modul SPRECHEN wird von zwei Prüfenden durchgeführt. Eine/-r der Prüfenden moderiert das Prüfungsgespräch. Beide Prüfenden machen Notizen und bewerten die Prüfungsleistungen unabhängig voneinander.
Das Einleitungsgespräch wird nicht bewertet.
Im Modul SPRECHEN sind insgesamt maximal 100 Punkte erreichbar.
Preparation
Zur Vorbereitung auf die mündliche Prüfung erhalten die Teilnehmenden sowohl für die Paar- als auch für die Einzelprüfung 20 Minuten Zeit.
Die Teilnehmenden dürfen ihre in der Vorbereitungszeit erstellten stichpunktartigen Notizen während des Moduls SPRECHEN verwenden.
You can sit — and resit — one module at a time
Each module is passed on its own at 60 %, and modules may be taken singly or together. A weak module does not cost you the others, and you repeat only the one you need.
Ein Modul ist bestanden, wenn mindestens 60 Punkte bzw. 60 % erreicht sind.
Die Module können einzeln oder in Kombination abgelegt werden.
If nobody is paired with you
Eine Paarprüfung dauert circa 20 Minuten, eine Einzelprüfung dauert circa 15 Minuten.
Careful: a similar exam, a different format
Exams with almost the same name do not share a speaking format. The differences below are real, and turning up prepared for the wrong one is a common way to lose marks.
